good thoughts, claire.

I am definitely concerned that not too
many people, or the same people, have been showing up for meetings.

Obviously
I understand that everyone has a busy work/school schedule, so I am not
faulting anyone.

But I guess I am just curious as to why more folks aren't coming?
and what we can do to make you want to come! Or how we can be better at
plugging folks in after meetings?

xo

On Mon, Feb 22, 2010 at 6:39 PM, claire schoen <clairemschoen@gmail.com> wrote:
b. goings-on thus far
c. thoughts about process

a.
i'd be happy to be the point person for setting up the next all-volunteer meeting, if that's cool.

maybe the person who is point person for meeting set up can be in charge of making sure someone takes on the task of setting up the next meeting, too, so there is continuity.

some folks have already emailed me about the first week of march, so maybe everyone could email me availability for the first week of march, i'll see what time works best for most of us. depending on how that pans out, it might be necessary to set up two meetings to include everyone. please send an email to ME, not the entire list-serve, so we don't crowd in-boxes. tanks.)

if you are interested in volunteering and haven't come out to a meeting yet, or if you came out to a meeting and haven't been able to return, email me your availablity! i think everyone is interested in making this an inclusive project, and while we definitely need to work out the kinks, i think this is feasible.

b.
the newsletter group put together the first newsletter (yay) and i'll be making copies tonight. i'll either bring the copies to the brick tonight or early tomorrow. (have we talked about how we are going to distribute these?)

i know the black history month working group finalized plans this morning. this thursday, 7pm. sounds great :o)

c.
finally, things seem to be starting up well. a lot of things have taken off with great speed! some things need work, but we're just getting started, so that's to be expected. already we've seen things starting to happen.

so some things that need our attention are:

-transparency (getting notes out promptly, letting folks know what's going on/when meetings are happening) (maybe we should make a timeline/time frame for setting meeting times/getting notes out. thoughts?)

-inclusiveness. let's be welcoming, and reach out to volunteers/potential volunteers. we want this project to grow and be self-sustaining, and not become a burn-out machine! also, this project is for everyone! formality sucks sometimes, but things like check-ins during meetings, sitting in circles, and setting agendas/taking stack help this...really...makes everyone's day better.)

that's all i can think of right now. additional thoughts? good job so far everyone. i'm excited!

-claire
