So I received this email the other day, and I wanted to see what y'all thought about this idea for an event? Do you think this will be a good event for the Library? Hope to hear from y'all soon!

A friend and I would like to speak about anarchist participation in the
anti-police struggles that erupted in Seattle last winter. (In case
you aren't familiar with the particulars and would like to read about
it, this is a
good read, and this
covers some but not all of the events.) We were both heavily involved
in the demonstrations, actions, assemblies, etc. We both also
participated in a talk in Berkeley at the Bastard conference this year
on the subject, and I was on a panel at the SF bookfair with folks from
Oakland and Greece about strategies in anti-police struggle, which you
can check out here if
interested.

This talk will be similar to all that, but also unique. We would like
to speak specifically to anarchists and anti-authoritarians (although
others are of course welcome as well), treating the talk as an
inter-city discussion of strategies. We would like to spend some time
talking specifically about anti-cop struggle generally, our analyses of
the situation in Seattle, how anarchists developed strategies and
enacted them, what went right, what went wrong, and how the moment of
rupture eventually ended. We would also like to use our time in
Richmond to hear from anarchists and anti-authoritarians about recent
and upcoming struggles there. (For example, it's my understanding that
in about the last year, there has been a fight around Monroe Park and
gentrification, including an occupation, the accidental leaking of RPD
documents, a small sports riot, a death in the city jail, and upcoming
plans for a new prison.)

We will only be in Richmond for one night--September 7th. We step off
the plane at 6:30 PM and we would like to start the talk at 8 PM.

What do you say?
