The internet is scketchy and any information you have on email or even your computer is accessible to others if they want it. If you don't want random people to be able to see your conversations or meeting notes the only way to make sure that happens is to not have it online.
Group email lists and listservs are really useful for lots of reasons. But it is hard, if not impossible, to keep them private while still functional.
One of the reasons the WIngnut does not regularly email notes from meetings

I am able to view it from both my computer and another person's computer that is not on the listserv at all. I think we should consider contacting the listserv administrator about this. Looks like if someone either 1) searches for relevant terms and/or for anyone that is involved in the email threads on the listserv or 2) has a direct link they can access all of our archives. Sketched out!
Nathan, I do not have my browser set up to remember my passwords. Maybe I can try to do a search again using another browser or on another computer..

Megan Osborn

I think the listservs are accessible through the site and can be viewed as forums instead of over email. If that's the case, then I assume it's a matter of privacy settings - whether or not it's a public forum/listserv. Results might still show up b/c of the way websites are cached but I can't be sure. FB works the same way - when I'm trying to locate patients at work for follow-ups, sometimes I just google them. Half the time you can find comments listed on FB events or whatever from over a year ago. It's kinda weird.

Was searching 'round the internet, checking out what information is out there that could be linked to me, and I came across this post that is from this listserv: https://lists.aktivix.org/pipermail/flyingbrickvolunteers/2011-January/000323.html

I'm wondering if all messages are displayed online for all to see, were someone to type in the correct search terms. I can say that this bothers me a great deal, but am not sure how to address it, so I'm sending out this note. Thoughts?
