short cold days and long colder nights make for a perfect excuse to hunker down
at home, have a bunch of friends over, and pass around a nice steaming cup of
cheer, in whatever form that may take! In addition to the cold but well-known
eggnog and its lesser-known cousin syllabub, various cultures around the world
have all developed different takes on hot and robust beverages, including
mulled wine (like Glögg from Scandinavia or Glühwein from Germany), hot cider
or wassail, spiked hot chocolate, etc.; even more obscure (in these parts at
least) concoctions such as a drinkable beer custard called Yard of Flannel, and
from Peru a </span></span></font></p>
