[g8-sheffield] re Scotland

Am Sheffield-based & trying to decide
whether to go to Scotland in July 
&, if so, for how long ( the whole week inc. Edinburgh events,
 or just  the days of Gleneagles.)

Presumably there are others from Sheffield 
who'll be travelling up. Does anyone have even the vaguest idea
how many might be there for the whole week?

Will anyone be going in affinity groups? Or meeting up 
anywhere?

Train travel seems to be cheapest, if booked in advance.
Or are there any lifts on offer?
