yes idd agree.. but the rutland has been booked.. and i guess that where people
expect it to be etc.. so to change it at this moment would i feel be a bad
time.. however to involve more muslims etc damm fine idea.. now here her comes
the very real problem.. there is very limited meeting space.. other than new
roots ie daves place.. the rutland is free good location etc.. but it will mean
we can not involve others.. however as said idd think leaveing it for now at the
rutland is the best we have got so far.. but give these below a go..

Here's a list of some of the places that will hold public meetings or events in
Sheffield (prices were current for April 2002 and should be used as guide
only):
Central United Reform Church

60 Norfolk Street, S1
Has two rooms one with a capacity for 30 the other 150. Larger room costs £56
for an evening.

Quaker Meeting House

Has rooms of all size with capacities up to around 150ish? The largest room cost
£18 per hour to hire with discount available to non profit groups after
applying.

St Mathews Church Rooms

Carver St, S1
Has two rooms one for around 30/40 people the other will take 100 - 150. Cost is
£36 for an evening.

St Maries

Houlden Hall, Norfolk Row, S1
Very central, has one large room, capacity 100. Cost around £40 (reduction might
be possible for certain events).

Red Deer Pub

18 Pitt St, (off West Street), S1
Upstairs room may be hired out for an evening - relaxed pub atmosphere -
capacity is around 40. Cost is £10.

The Grapes

80 Trippet Lane, S1
Has a small downstairs room than can be reserved for meetings (with bar!) and
larger upstairs room often used for smallish music gigs.

Royal Society for the Blind

Basic room,good size (maybe 150 capacity)

The Broomsping Centre

Broomspring Lane, Broomhall, S11
Close to University. Has large room (capacity around 80). Can be used for music
gigs etc. that don't go on too late.

Sheffield And District Afro-Carribean Community Association has largish rooms
just out of town.

Simunye

229 London Road, S7?
Cafe and World music shop that has a small but pleasant room downstairs that
holds about 30.

Mount Pleasant Community Centre

Sitwell House, Sharrow Lane, S7
Has rooms of various size holding up to perhaps 80. Good rates for community
based meetings.
