When: Tuesday July 24th, 7.30pm
Where: Upstairs Room, The Red Deer, Pitt St, (off
Mappin St, off West St)

Residents of the Rossport Solidarity Camp in County
Mayo, Ireland will be talking about the ongoing
campaign to prevent Shell from building an
experimental high pressure gas pipeline and inland
refinery on the Atlantic Coast of Ireland.

The campaign has been ongoing for 7 years, with Shell
effectively stopped from working by blockades for over
15 months until last October. This followed the
jailing of 5 local men for refusing to allow Shell
onto
their land in order to build the pipeline - these men
became household names across Ireland and are
collectively known as 'The Rossport 5'. One of 5,
Willie Corduff, was recently award 'The Goldman Prize'
in recognition of his tireless efforts to preserve his
local environment.

The campaign is still going strong, with daily
pickets, frequent blockades, national days of action,
international solidarity actions and Shell to Sea
groups active around Ireland.
