 Dear BarnCamp2011ers:

Thank you to everyone who came and made this year's BarnCamp and
excellent event. And an especially big thank you to those involved in
organising the event, including Ben, Andy, Mick, Woodsy, Llanos, Graham,
Pete, Rich, Becky, all the folks from Highbury Farm, and all of you that
mucked in, made it happen, and generally were there and involved.

DOCUMENTATION
=============

Documentation is important to build a reference for doing future events
and to create a useful resource on the web.

For this reasons, we're gathering media - video, photos, audio, blog
posts, etc - on the page at
http://hacktivista.net/hacktionlab/index.php/BarnCamp2011Media
Please add your own, or post your write-up or review to the list or to
this email address.  Thanks.

And also, if you have any notes or reviews of any of the workshops, hack
sessions or talks that you went to or facilitated, please add them on
this page
http://hacktivista.net/hacktionlab/index.php/BarnCamp_2011_Workshop_Notes -
or email them to the list.

FINANCES
========

Secondly, the finances, all in all HacktionLab made a total of 412.80
from the event with all expenses taken in to consideration. That is our
best yet. The total HacktionLab pot for future projects, publications
and events now has around 563 pounds in it!

THE FUTURE
==========

Some interesting proposals came from the final closing circle, sadly a
little late in the day as a lot of you had already left. Amongst the
ideas were:

* Hold more regional urban HacktionLab gatherings with people from
Bradford, Manchester, Bristol, Bournemouth and London all up for hosting
one in principal.

* Hold joint gatherings with other collectives - to reduce the number
thoughtout the year. For example, this could be HacktionLab+Catalyst Radio.

* Put together a set of 'templated' workshops, along the lines of that
that VisionOn.TV have produced, that can be run but HacktionLab and
non-HacktionLab members at stand-alone events or as part of another
gathering.

* Get more involved with local events and put on HacktionLab workshop
spaces at these events.

* Create a space or offer of help at Peace News Camp this year.

* Create a space at Shambala this year.

* The last three ideas could be turned into a kind of 'road show'.

* Choose another venue and/or format for BarnCamp next year to give the
farm and the crew a bit of a break and to keep things interesting.

Once again thanks everyone, a most excellent gathering. We might be
sending out a questionnaire at some point in the future in order to get
some feedback from you all, but before then, do send your thoughts,
ideas, proposals and any media you have to the list.

Cheers,

Mike.
