iCal is a standard feed format. Well really iCal is an apple product,
and the feed format's full name is iCalendar

http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5545 but everyone calls it iCal too.

Most website CMS can have a calender plugin that can output iCal feeds.
There are also stand-alone website calendars, but I've not tried any of
them. Anyone else had any experience?

Most desktop calendars will also import/export iCal feeds. I'm quite
(not very, just quite) happy with Lightning (for Thunderbird/Seamonkey)
for that.
