Our wiki fulfilled this function for some people in the past, e.g.

I know we can't give have open registration on the wiki because of
spammers, but if we gave all people who plan to come a wiki account if
they look like they're for real (e.g. friend of a friend, or they pay
in advance to the bank) then people could use that?

Agree, this would be good to do. If we have a few volunteers we could
just take it in turns to meet the bus, assuming they'll run more or
less on time.
