
<!DOCTYPE html><html><head><title></title><style type="text/css">p.MsoNormal,p.MsoNoSpacing{margin:0}</style></head><body><div>Hi HacktionLab!<br></div><div><br></div><div>I've been introduced to your work through someone on Mastodon when I was looking for UK tech events with a DIY/sustainability/activism ethos.<br></div><div><br></div><div>I've not been to a festival like this before and would love to attend either way, but I'd also be really interested to present a talk on how a few years ago I tried to build a utopian social network and how and why it didn't work out. A sort of postmortem of an attempt to create kinder, DIY spaces online. Some of the problems I encountered were social, some were technical, some were personal - and I also made a number of wonderful friends through the attempt. I could also talk about some other people working on creating better social worlds online, and what they're doing right.<br></div><div><br></div><div>My background is a PhD in English literature (I wrote on contemporary utopian literature, Occupy, and the like), and now I work as a software engineer for the Guardian.<br></div><div><br></div><div>Thank you for adding me to the list!<br></div><div><br></div><div>All best,<br></div><div><br></div><div>Raphael</div><div>https://raphael.computer</div></body></html>
