<font size="2">Summer is right around the corner, and that means it is almost time for the HAND Green Team's much-anticipated <b><span style="background-color: rgb(153, 255, 153);">Bull Run Watershed Tour</span></b>, scheduled for <b>August 22, 2009</b>!<br>
<br>This event will be <b>educational and fun</b> and also a good way for neighbors who are interested in sustainability ~ and HAND Green Team projects in particular ~ to spend some time together in the great outdoors.<br>
<br>As part of the HAND Green Team, please check your calendars, and <b>sign up soon</b>! Then tell friends, family, and neighbors who you think might want to contribute positively to neighborhood sustainability to join us for this <b>exclusive guided sustainable watershed extravaganza</b>. You're getting first chance at spots on the tour, as space is limited to 26.<br>

<ul><li><font size="2"><span class="medium">Tours typically last 8 hours.</span></font></li><li><font size="2"><span class="medium">The tour program is free, but participants
must cover transportation arrangements and costs ($10).<br></span></font></li><li><font size="2"><span class="medium">Smoking is not allowed on tours.</span></font></li><li><font size="2"><span class="medium">ADA compliant, accessible restrooms are available.</span></font></li>
<li><font size="2"><span class="medium">In the interest of water system security, all tour participants will be asked to provide identification information.</span></font></li></ul>

in cooperation with the U. S. Forest Service, offers a limited number
of tours annually in the Bull Run Watershed. All tours are planned and
guided by a professional Water Resources Educator. During the tour
participants learn about Portland's primary drinking water supply.</span></font></p><div>

<i>For example, did you know that:</i></font>
<ul><font class="medium"><li><i>The watershed drains about 102 square miles of forested landscape. </i></li>
<li><i>Over 250 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish
may occur in the watershed, according to an Oregon Department of
Forestry review of Oregon's forest habitats. </i></li>
<li><i>Almost 53% of the watershed is classified as 'old growth' and has never been logged.</i></li>
<li><i>Rain, not snowmelt, provides 90-95% of the water in the watershed, averaging 130 inches a year.</i></li>
