Over the years people around the world have seen tuition fees skyrocket,
sending many into debt for years after they have graduated. Recently there
has also been an increasing presence of corporations within universities and
even schools. Public educational institutions are increasingly subjected to
economic forces. They are converted to a place of business where the
students, pupils, teachers and staff hardly have a voice. Students – and
even pupils – are not seen as anything but the clientele, which creates an
atmosphere antithetical to self-determined learning. People worldwide are
affected by constant budget cuts and the increasing influence of economic
interests on public education.
As a reaction to this development various groups and whole movements from
all parts of the world are getting together to unite in their struggle for
free and emancipatory public education systems.
On November 5th 2009 the „Warm-up Day of United Action“ will kick off
internationally co-ordinated protest actions, that will take place as part
of the „Education is NOT for $A£€ - Global Week of Action“ [Nov. 9th
- 18th]. Close to 70 groups in 30 countries (e.g. Canada, Liberia, Croatia,
the Philippines, Germany, Indonesia, France, Bangladesh, Italy and the
U.S.A.) are currently calling for public discussions, demonstrations and
occupations of public spaces during the week of action.
The news of occupations at universities across Austria spread around the
world like wildfire and gave international networking among activists a real
push. People in many parts of the world identify with the occupants' demands
and goals. This new grassroots movement called for a national day of action
in support of free public education and against the so-called „Bolonga
Process“, which they deem to be part of the „Warm-up Day of United Action“.
Student unions in Canada are calling for large-scale demonstrations against
tuition fees and the ongoing commercialisation of public education on the
same day. Bigger protests are as well being prepared by groups in the U.S.
of A., Poland and Switzerland among others. Only a few days later, on
November 17th, countrywide movements in Germany, France, Italy, Austria and
other countries will continue their actions in unison.
Regular online chat meetings, the use of various forums, a mailing list and
homepage help to ensure a constant flow of information between the
activists, wherever they are. The „basis“ for the Global Week of Action was
coordinated with the support of these appliances by people from around the
world who see themself to be part of the „International Student Movement“,
an independent platform.
This newly formed international movement aims to encourage public debates
about the functions of public education systems for societies as a whole and
the link between local problems within educational institutions and global
economic forces. It wants to point out the necessity of free and
emancipatory public education for any democratic society.
This issue impacts not only those directly affected by it within the
institutions, but society at large.
Every group formulates their own individual demands in detail, but they all
stand united in their struggle for free and emancipatory public education –
worldwide!

Au fil des ans, les citoyens partout dans le monde ont vu monter en flèche
les frais de scolarité, les jeunes s'endetter pendant des années après avoir
obtenu leur diplôme... Désormais les entreprises privées ne cherchant qu'à
controler la formation des jeunes deviennent de plus en plus présente dans
les universités publiques. Les établissements d'enseignement public sont de
plus en plus soumis à aux contraintes imposées par les interêts privés.
Elles sont converties en un lieu d'affaires où les étudiants, les élèves,
les enseignants et le personnel n'ont guère de droits, ne décident pas et ne
font que subir l'influence néfaste des entrerpises dans l'ensiegnement. Les
étudiants ne sont pas considérés comme autre chose que de vulgaires
marchandises, des clients, créant une atmosphère de compétition entre les
étudiants eux-memes. Tous les citoyens du monde sont aujourd'hui touchés par
les croissantes baisses budgétaires imposées sans aucune consultation des
populations par les interets privés toujours plus croissant au fil des ans.
En réaction, divers groupes, organisations locales & nationales de toutes
les régions du monde s'unissent pour lutter contre la destruction & la
marchandisation de l'Education publique dans le monde.
Le 5 Novembre debutera la "GLOBAL WEEK ACTION", un ensemble d'actions et de
mouvements de protestations auront lieu dans le cadre du programme «
Education n'est PAS à vendre - Semaine mondiale d'action "[Nov. 9e - 18].
Près de 70 groupes dans 30 pays (par exemple le Canada, le Libéria, la
Croatie, les Philippines, Allemagne, Indonésie, France, le Bangladesh,
l'Italie et les Etats-Unis d'A) travaillent actuellement au lancement de
discussions publiques, de démonstrations et diverses occupations d'espaces
publics éducatifs pour cette fameuse semaine d'action.
Les nouvelles protestations & diverses occupations dans les Universités
Autrichiennes donnent le ton et créée un réel engouement, un exemple à
suivre pour les militants du monde entier. Les citoyens dans de nombreuses
parties du monde s'identifient aux occupants tant par les objectifs qu'ils
cherchent à atteindre que par leurs revendications. Ce nouveau mouvement
populaire appel à une journée d'action national en faveur de l'éducation
publique gratuite, ils sont des précurseurs du mouvement et appel le 5
Novembre à la Mobilisation générale de la jeunesse partout dans le monde.
Les syndicats des étudiants au Canada appellent à des manifestations de
grande ampleur contre les droits de scolarité et la marchandisation en cours
de l'instruction publique le même jour. De grosses manifestations sont aussi
bien en préparation aux Etats-Unis qu'en Pologne ou encore en Suisse par
exemple. Un peu plus tard, la France, l'Italie, l'Allemagne, la Bulgarie, et
bien d'autres pays entamerons une marche internationale contre la
Marchandisation de l'Education et lancerons leurs premières actions à
l'unisson.
L'utilisation de divers forums, de Facebook, de listes de diffusion, de
sites internationaux traduits en plusieurs langues aide à l'échange constant
de l'information entre militants, où qu'ils soient. La "base" pour la
Semaine mondiale d'action a été coordonnée avec l'appui de ces appareils par
des personnes du monde entier qui malgrès leurs appartenance a divers
courants syndicaux ou politiques, font tous partis de l' " International
Student Movement ", une plate-forme indépendante qui se veut fédératrice.
Ce mouvement international nouvellement formé a pour but de favoriser un
débat public sur les fonctions des systèmes d'éducation publique dans les
sociétés dans leur ensemble et le lien entre les problèmes locaux au sein
des institutions éducatives et les forces économiques mondiales. Il tient à
souligner la nécessité pour l'enseignement public d'ête gratuit et
émancipateur et cela pour toute société démocratique.
Ce problème ne concerne pas seulement les "acteurs de l'education" (Elèves,
professeurs,....) mais la société dans son ensemble, l'éducation forme la
jeunesse, et donc les futurs citoyens qui auront un pouvoir politique (le
vote), ceux-ci façonnerons alors nos sociètés futures.
Chaque groupe élabore ses propres exigences individuelles en détail, mais
nous sommes unis dans notre objectif pour l'enseignement public gratuit et
émancipateur dans le monde!

*Bewegungen für freie Bildung schließen sich weltweit zusammen!*
Seit Jahren erleben Menschen auf der ganzen Welt wie Studiengebühren
sprunghaft ansteigen und infolge dessen viele noch Jahre nach ihrem
Abschluss verschuldet sind. Seit einiger Zeit ist die Präsenz von
Unternehmen an (Hoch-)Schulen stark angestiegen. Öffentliche
Bildungseinrichtungen geraten verstärkt unter den Zugzwang wirtschaftlicher
Zwänge. Sie werden zunehmend in Wirtschaftsunternehmen umstrukturiert, in
denen Studierende, SchülerInnen, Lehrkräfte und sonstige Angestellte kaum
noch Mitspracherechte haben. Der Kundenstatus der Studierenden - und
vermehrt auch der SchülerInnen - schafft eine Atmosphäre, die dem autonomen
Lernen grundsätzlich widerspricht. Menschen weltweit leiden unter den
Auswirkungen permanenter Haushaltskürzungen sowie dem immer größer werdenden
Einfluss (privat-)wirtschaftlicher Interessen im öffentlichen
Bildungsbereich.
Als Reaktion auf diese Entwicklungen schließen sich diverse
Bildungsbewegungen aus aller Welt zusammen, um gegen die Missstände und
Ökonomisierung von Bildung vorzugehen und für freie und emanzipatorisch
ausgerichtete öffentliche Bildungssysteme zu streiten.
Am 5. November 2009 findet weltweit der „Warm-up Day of United Action“ für
die kommenden Bildungsproteste statt, welche in den Rahmen der „Education is
NOT for $A£€ - Global Week of Action“ eingebettet sind. Diese ist vom 9. bis
18. November 2009 vorgesehen. Knapp 70 Gruppen in 30 Ländern (u.a. Kanada,
Liberia, Kroatien, Deutschland, Indonesien, Bangladesch, Italien und den
U.S.A.) rufen aktuell zu öffentlichen Diskussionen, Demonstrationen und
Besetzungen im Laufe der Aktionswoche auf.
Nach den seit zwei Wochen anhaltenden Hochschulbesetzungen in ganz
Österreich wurde der 5. November, ebenfalls im Rahmen des „Warm-up Day“ zum
landesweiten Aktionstag gegen den sogenannten „Bologna Prozess“ und die
Bildungsmisstände im Allgemeinen ausgerufen.
Die Meldungen über die Besetzungen an den Hochschulen haben sich wie ein
Lauffeuer verbreitet. Menschen aus vielen Ecken dieser Welt identifizieren
sich mit den Zielen der Studierenden, sowie der Lehrkräfte und treiben die
internationale Vernetzung in Windeseile voran.
Sogar in Kanada rufen Studierendenvertretungen an diesem Tag zu
Großdemonstrationen gegen Studiengebühren und die weitere Kommerzialisierung
von Bildung auf. Entschlossene Proteste werden ebenfalls u.a. in den U.S.A.,
Polen und der Schweiz vorbereitet.
Nur wenige Tage später, werden am 17. November landesweit in Deutschland,
Frankreich, Italien, der Schweiz, Österreich und weiteren Ländern die
Proteste gemeinsam fortgesetzt werden.
Ein konstanter Informationsfluss unter den Bewegungen wird unter anderem
durch regelmäßige Chat-Treffen, die Nutzung diverser Foren, Email-Verteiler
und einer Homepage sicher gestellt. Das „Grundgerüst“ für die globale
Aktionswoche wurde mit Unterstützung dieser Hilfsmittel von Menschen aus
unterschiedlichsten Ländern koordiniert, welche sich als Teil der
unabhängigen Plattform „International Student Movement“ verstehen.
Die sich derzeit formierende internationale Bewegung verfolgt mehrere Ziele.
Unter anderem sollen öffentliche Debatten, sowohl über die Zusammenhänge
zwischen lokalen Problemen in Bildungseinrichtungen und globalen
wirtschaftlichen Zwängen als auch über die Notwendigkeit frei zugänglicher
und unabhängiger Bildung für eine demokratische Gesellschaft, angeregt
werden.
Erst ein emanzipatorisches Bildungssystem befähigt die Menschen dazu, sich
kritisch mit ihrem Umfeld auseinander zu setzen. Diese Fähigkeit und das
notwendige Wissen müssen erst erlernt werden. Deshalb geht diese
Angelegenheit nicht nur diejenigen etwas an, die direkt von der
Ökonomisierung im Bildungsbereich betroffen sind, sondern jede Gesellschaft
in ihrer Gesamtheit.
Außerdem ist dringend eine Sensibilisierung der Öffentlichkeit über die
globale Dimension des Problems von Nöten.
Jede Gruppe formuliert zwar ihre eigenen genauen Forderungen, doch sie
setzen sich alle gemeinsam für freie und emanzipatorisch ausgerichtete
öffentliche Bildung ein – weltweit!
Die Woche und die damit einhergehenden Proteste werden der Auftakt einer
neuen Bildungsbewegung sein, die sich insbesondere durch ihre internationale
Vernetzung und Koordination auszeichnet.

Desde años gente en todo del mundo se da cuenta que las tasas
universitarias se aumentan rapidamente. Debido a eso muchos estarán
endeudados años despues de recibir su título.

Desde hace algún tiempo las empresas fueron dados más y más posibilidades y
espacio para representarse en las universidades y escuelas. En el pasado
instituciones de educación publico estaban (en gran medida) lugares libres y
autónomas. Pero estas instituciones son reestructuradas crecientemente en
empresas económicas, en lasquelles estudiantes, alumnos, profesores y otros
empleados tienen apenas un derecho de intervención. Este estado de cliente
de los estudiantes y también más de los alumnos - crea una atmósfera, que
conntradice totalmente el aprendizaje autónomo. Gente en todo del mundo
sufre de los efectos de la redución de los presupuestos permanentes y sufre
también de la influencia aumentada de los intereses (privados) económicos en
el sector de la educación publica.
Como una reación a este desarrollo los diversos grupos alemanes de
"bundesweiten Bildungstreik" (Huelga nacional de Educación) se juntaron con
otros movimientos activos de todo del mundo. Junto actuan contra los
inconvenientes y contra la comercialización de educación y luchan por
sistémas educativos libres, publicos y emancipatorios.
Al día 5 de noviembre 2009 habrá a nivel mundial el "Warm-up Day of United
Action" para las siguentes protestas de educación. Estas protestas son parte
de la „Education is NOT for $A£€ - Global Week of Action“ que tiene lugar
del 9 de noviembre al 18 de noviembre 2009. Casi 70 grupos de 30 países
(Canadá, Liberia, Croacia, Indonesia, Bangladesch, Italia, EE.UU. y muchos
más) llaman en este momento a discusiones, manifestaciones y ocupaciones
publicas en el contexto de la semana de acción. En Alemania diversas
alianzas de la huelga de educación y representaciones estudiantiles estan
envueltas, por ejemplo de Múnich, Bonn, Marburgo, Francfurto, Berlin,
Heidelberg, Hamburgo, Münster, Bochum.
A causa de las ocupaciones universitarias en Austria, que ya tardan desde
dos semanas, el día 5 de noviembre fue elegido como día de acción nacional
en contra el proceso de Bologna y en contra de los inconvenientes educativos
en general como parte de "Warm-up Day of United Action".
Las noticias sobre las ocupaciones de las universidades en Austria se
propagaron como un reguerdo de pólvora. Gente de los diferentos partes del
mundo se identifica con los objectivos de los estudiantes y profesores. Este
gente difunde y apoya la comunicación y redificación internacional.
También en Canadá las representaciones estudiantiles llaman por este día a
manifestaciones en contra las tasas universitarias y comercialización de
educación. Además protestas decididas estan organizadas en los EE.UU.,
Polandia y Suiza.
Y al 17 de noviembre las protestas - coordinadado en un contexto
internaciónal - serán continuado en Alemania, Francia, Italia y muchos otros
pasíses.
Un flujo de información constante entre los movimientos y grupos esta
segurado por encuentros frecuentes de chat, el uso de los foros diversos, un
distribuidor de correos y una página principal en el red. La "base" de esta
semana global de acción pudo ser coordinado y apoyado con apoyo de el
remedio de esta gente de los diferentos países. Esta gente se miran como
parte de la plataforma indepediente "International Student Movement".
Este movimiento internaciónal, que todavía esta formandose, quiere empezar
un debate publico no sólo acerca las relaciones entre problemas locales en
instituciones de educación y obligaciones globales económicas sino también
acerca la nececidad de tener una educación indepediente y con un acceso
libre para establecer una sociedad democrática.
Sólo un sistema de educación emancipatorio faculta a la gente para
enfrentarse criticalmente con su ambiente. Pero primero hay que aprender
esta facultad y el sabimiento necesario. Por eso este asunto no sólo
concerne aquelles que estan afectado directamente por la comercialización en
la educación sino concerne cada sociedad en todo.
Aunque cada grupo formula sus propias y exactas demandas, todos pelean por
una educación libre emancipatoria y publica - en todo del mundo!
Esta semana y en su contexto con sus protestas serán el inicio de un nuevo
movimiento educativo, que se caracteriza por su coneción y colaboración
internacional.
