I agree with Christian. There are few enough takers at FP so I could book the first 2 dates this afternoon, could always cancell later
This I will do, so please supply details of speaker/topic ASAP also could we ensure we have a collection as we really ought to pay FP something
No reason why we could not have something at CH INADDITION one Friday
Any IDEAS STEVE your talks are always very popular and you would have to make it if YOU were speaking- think on it and let me know

 Hi to all

I would like to put to bed this issue of day and dates as I would like to start advertising the LAF debates on the PFA list (abt 300 recipients), the PSE list (80+), my own groupies (confidential!) and at the French Institute where I moderate a debate every other Saturday morning. This is the time of the year to advertise new series. A good blurb shud bring enough bodies to fill in the room at FP every other Sat pm, as discussed. I know it's unfair to Steve, but unless someone comes up with a better alternative that will be fair to all, I'm afraid we're going to be discussing this issue of dates and venues until the advent of the fourth messiah.

So again, subject to a better idea agreed to by next week, can we schedule debates at FP on
3rd and 17th September,

1st, 15th and 29th Oct.,

12th and 26th Nov.,

10th Dec.

please?

By yr end, it will again be an appropriate time to change day/venue if new consensus is arrived at.

Justin, do you want to present yr paper on "ideologies and political typologies" on 3rd Sept ?

Any idea for speaker/topic for 17th Sept?

I think I hv somebody who could do 1 oct.

I am all in favour of boozy "social" gatherings at any time, but please let's keep the speakers/talks to our regular Sats meetings (or whatever day is chosen) or we'll run out of speakers and confuse list members.

Pse let me hv yr flak/comment/approval/alternatives asap so we can start advertising the events and dates.

Christian

and as I said we could still have discussions (if people will turn up) at FP on Sats

For some reason this post did not come through first time
Hi
Its a great idea to have social meetings but difficult to agree on a venue
Prehaps we should bite the bullet and agree on a regular meeting at Conway Hall
on a Friday in Sep, we need a really good speaket though to attract new people
We have £17.00 in hand the exact cost of the room
So JUSTIN comrade programme organiser what can you come up with?
also WHICH Friday in Sep I think its between 2nd(too early?) 9th, 16th , 23rd and 30th
so we even have an extra one

Think on it, we could still have socials - how about Sundays- and Sat meets at FP
if no body minds

Hi Ed,

I must admit that I hardly ever go into pubs, and when I do it is
usually a quiet Hertfordshire one. Perhaps I underestimate the
difficulty of finding a pub in Central London that is quiet at
8:00 pm on Friday:-)

Also, it seems odd to think of Holborn as Central London but not
Kings Cross. I think of both of them as Central, as opposed to
Finsbury Park for ex! ! ample. But then I think of Trafalgar Square
as more central than either - speaking of which, the Crypt at
St. Martin in the Fields is more my idea of a good meeting place,
though I expect it is not everyone's:-)

If there is a largish group of us meeting then I don't really mind
where it is, though the lower the ambient noise the better. But if
it is the sort of meeting where people might or might not show I
would like it to be somewhere that would be cool even if I ended
up there on my own.

Ian
