Work and Idleness

Saturday 12 March, 11.00-6.15pm
Old Theatre, London School of Economics
Admission Free, No Registration

According to classical and Biblical conceptions, work was a kind of
curse -
the physical labour that people are compelled to undertake in order to
provide for their necessities. So how has work changed over the
centuries?
Is there still such a thing as the dignity of labour? Is there a right
to be
idle? And what is the future of work? This conference will explore the
philosophical, economic, and socio-political and personal implications
of
the changing meaning of work.
