    Jewish peace campaigners have launched an online petition opposing the European Union's decision to emulate Israeli government and US action in severing aid to Palestine. (Israel is freezing funds such as customs dues which are supposed to go to the Palestine Authority). The petition  is in line with letters sent to the EU by the Israeli Peace Bloc, Gush Shalom, and European Jews for Just Peace(EJJP).
  The measures have been taken in response to the election of Hamas, but protestors say they amount to collective punishment of all Palestinians, already suffering dire economic conditions, they will hit the most vulnerable such as children, and will actually reinforce extremism rather than contributing to peace.
  Addressed to the EU and US and Israeli governments, the petition follows one in the United States from Jewish Voice for Peace. It has already recieved several Canadian signatures, the signatories adding "this applies to Canada too!"
