  Stan Newens
  Desmond Fernandes
  Followed by Q&A
  Stan Newens, Vice President of the Socialist
  History Society, has held public office as a
  Labour MP and MEP. Long active in solidarity
  movements in the UK with anti-imperialist
  struggles abroad, Stan was chairman of the
  Movement for Colonial Freedom (now Liberation)
  and president of the London Co-operative
  Society among his many credits.
  Desmond Fernandes is the author of several
  forthcoming books on the nature of Turkish state
  terror and human rights abuses in colonial
  Kenya (to be published in 2007 by Apec Press,
  Stockholm). He was a Senior Lecturer in Human
  Geography (1994-2006), Tourism (1994-2006)
  and Genocide Studies (2001-2006) at
  De Montfort University, Bedford.
