I didn't get around to subscribing to the LAF list until <EM>after </EM>28 June, so that's probably why I missed Edmund's email ... re my talk on art, I would prefer as late as possible, <STRONG>august?</STRONG> Then i would have time to research and think about the subject; perhaps it could be more of a group discussion too. </P>
<P>Does this sound like i'm chickening out<IMG height=19 src="http://graphics.hotmail.com/i.p.emcrook.gif" width=19>? Er...no. I would like to do the talk a lot, I'm not sure what i can offer right now, apart from:</P>
<UL>
<LI>the breaking free of art from the control of religion at first (evidence from Mesopotamia and Egypt onwards).</LI>
<LI>then control was taken by the aristocracy.</LI>
<LI>then control was passed to the ruling class.</LI>
<LI>then control went to rich families. </LI>
<LI>now, most control has gone to the art gallery cliques who dictate the current "fashionable" styles.</LI></UL>

<P>Edmund already sent an email on 27 June saying the whole thing's cancelled and asking you when you want to do your talk in July. I don't know if you overlooked it because you were on hols or whether you are not receiving emails from the LAF email list (maybe you are not connected up to the group list or you have opted to receive a 'digest' of the list and are consequently not receiving things correctly). Anyway, I will forward to you shortly a couple of emails Edmund sent out which you may not have received. </P>
<P>Edmund - maybe you should copy Barry in on anything you send to LAF.</P>
<P>Barry and Edmund - just lately I notice I frequently receive automatic messages saying that my emails have completely failed to be delivered to Yahoo! addresses. I don't know if it is because of my Hotmail account or because of some fault with Yahoo!</P>
<P>Barry - Excuse the delay in replying, I check my Hotmail account at odd moments.</P>
