Art Group meeting Wednesday 24th August.
The meeting was well attended and very productive.
1) Patrick and Cuthbert want to set up an art club to paint one of the
cellar walls with a theme of 'Marxist moles in their holes'. One
suggestion was to hold the club during the Thursday social. This
proposal will be coordinated with the Gig collective for the logistics
of this while the art group will help advertise.
2) Moses, Steve and Andy have been granted a studio space for 3 months.
3) As we are only starting out no hard and fast rules where discussed
as to the management of the studios. We want to see how the use,
demand and allocation of studios develops.
4) It was suggested that for the time being donations would be asked
for in relation to rent for the studios. Moses has offered to pay £10
a week for the space.
5) One issue did arise for the Monday general meeting is that studio
holders would need to have a key to gain 24/7 independent access to
the building to gain access to there allotted space.
6) The art collective's key would be issued to members who are
partaking in arts events through a booking system. Eric Winnert has
been identified as the main key holder and implementer of the booking
system.
7) An arts event diary will be acquired by Cuthbert. This diary will
be used to book studio space and note arts events. The diary will also
be used to monitor the activity of the arts in Matilda.
8) The art space has 5 rooms. The 4 small rooms will be used as
studios while the large room will be used as a communal space, this
will be able to be booked for short periods of time for one off
events.
9) A proposal for a Matilda exhibition programme was put forward. This
will be devised and implemented for December after Eric Winnert's Art
05 fringe event.
10) A submission workshop was proposed for people who want to learn
how to apply for arts events/exhibitions. This is proposed for early
September.
