Allo,

If you've seen the Sheaf Valley development plan, you'll know that MATILDA
currently sits in the middle of lots of other buildings and the 'Porter Brook
development area'. (It's also the only one that remains greyed out, surrounded
by new build...)

Just been searching the Yorkshire Forward site again, and found some old minutes
from May with that phrase in. YF's role appears to be to acquire sites of
strategic importance for the overall masterplan... from this, it sounds as
though the plan is for an e-campus on the MATILDA site, but it's not 100%
clear. At any rate, they're still working with Hallam on its implementation.

Agenda Item 9: Delivery of Sheffield Masterplan – Site Acquisitions

1635. The Executive Director, Environment introduced paper RDA.05/45 and
provided supplementary information through a presentation about the acquisition
of two sites in Sheffield – Porter Brook and the Nelson Mandela building –
which were of strategic importance to the delivery of the station and e-campus
aspects of the Sheffield renaissance masterplan. It was reported that this
paper recommended these acquisitions as part of a wider package of negotiations
with Sheffield Hallam University and Sheffield City Council, involving three
other sites (Howard Street and Charles Street – owned by Yorkshire Forward; and
the Grahams site) to create quality public realm and the development of
Yorkshire Forward’s urban renaissance programme, within the context of the
masterplan itself.

1636. The Board resolved that:

(a) the acquisition of the Porter Brook site be approved noting that a
further submission would be made to the Board when plans for its re-development
(and any budgetary implications) were clearer.
