[matilda] heating and insulation through winter

 was at the film showing last nite and i reckon the cold comes in from the cellar up through the floor in the main room.
 
 if this could be insulated with polystyrene balls (from recycled waste?) i think this would improve the temperature by a mile, with the odd heater on of course.
 
 with good insualtion, 30-40 people in that room would generate enough body heat to stay pretty warm. Does anybody know anything about getting hold of polystyrene waste or something similar as insulation?

 btw. films were good *plus* thanx to hard working cafe staff for popcorn an stuff
