Joe was asking me about this, but thought other folks might be 
interested. This page has a brief account of how the phenomenon of 
'social centres' developed out of the Italian autonomist movement 
in the 1970s, whom I also borrowed the term 'the tribe of moles' 
from, for Ben's Matilda flyer and our logo.
