I'm just in the process of setting up a new WIKI for collaborative radical
writing.  

It'll be dystopian / utopian stuff: pages for the writing, pages for the ideas
and goings-on in the world that provoke it.

The WIKI can be set up so that you can 'watch' pages - and you get e-mailed when
someone makes a change.  So collaboration becomes very interactive, coz various
people can watch the particular bit of writing(s) and idea(s) they're into at
that time.

A few people have already got various ideas about where things might lead - the
idea is that a coherent dystopian vision will 'emerge'.  It could be tripe -
but a fun experiment all the same!  Also, it would possibly spawn any number of
different things...

Current working title: Songs that Got us Through World War Three.  A dystopian
vision of a near-future, where a fascist leader is elected to parliament,
finding him/herself in a government now equiped with the most extensive
surveillance technology and set of easily abused repressive laws. 

(The aim for me is to take already existing developments, and show just how
very, very close we are to hell... e.g. The US government's long-dropped Total
Information and Awareness programme laid it out already -anyone remember that
Masonic all-seeing eye logo they had before they took the website down? -  and
of course Fylingdales in Yorkshire was a vital tenet to it's functioning.
Congress kicked it out - but who reckons no-one's working on it any more?)

The fascist leader got there initially coz he/she won a TV politician
competition - as with last year's one where 'the voting people' also chose a
total fascist.  He then goes on from TV fame to be the front-man of a
far-right-wing party, riding to power on the back of and oil-crisis-fueled
recession...

My writing style for drafting ideas tends to be like this:

"The fucker won.  He won!  Sucked up by the irresistible gaze of the cathode ray
tube; swept into power by the forces of history zizzling its electrons down the
wires of the national grid and plonked, rabbit-eyed but willing all the same,
into prime-ministership.  And there the fucker was, on TV again - except this
time he was waving from the doors of No. 10.  A quick wave, before turning his
back.  Going right on through the door.  The door closing behind him.  This is
reality TV.  It doesn’t get more real than this.

"And what did he find when he got there?  Oh, the beauty of it!  The apparatus
of a high-tech police state stretching from beyond the atmosphere to the card
in your pocket, fuelled by the tiniest glance into a CCTV camera, all ready and
built like the bestest Christmas Present a little fascist prick with a coterie
of very, very unpleasant heavies and even heavier backers, could ever,ever
fucking hope for..."

Then, of course, comes the draft...

Any takers? A bit of dystopian intertextual 1984esque action?  Get it aaawnn!

that is great stuff!!!
a crashed starship (it crashed ages ago) and Matilda is only a very
small part of it, there is much more as this space-station was immense
and is now actually all under sheffield and south Yorkshire,
peakdistrict, yorkshire forward knows this (hallam doesn't this is why
they sold it regardless)....but somewhere in the vast corridors of the
burried spaceship lies the secret key to everything....the americans
know something, this is why they have their big base in Yorkshire, they
are digging for the former brigde of the ship, secretly, what they do
not know is...Matilda is part of what they are looking for, there
should be a secret path leading out of Matilda into other parts of the
ship, guys, I shouldn't really be that open about it, but then again,
no one will take this bullshit seriously so I am safe...Matildas quest
is to find the key to everything or rather keep it out of the hands of
yf and the americans......you see, there is a story...some credits for
the story
