[matilda] Campaign for a new Worker's Party

Hi all,

I'm emailing about the campaign initiated by the Socialist Party to create a
broad left-wing electoral alternative to the Labour party, as a means of
re-building the organised left in Britain. The details of what this means are
contained on the website www.cnwp.org.uk or the SP site
www.socialistparty.org.uk. Importantly we believe that such a party should be
federalist and inclusive, allowing different groups democratic space and
autonomy within it. We hope, therefore, to attract all groups of individuals
who are opposed to neo-liberalism, environmental destruction, imperialism and
war to join in the campaign.

If anyone involved with the Matilda centre is at all likely to be interested in
this project I thought it might be worthwhile to set up a collective to
campaign on its behalf. If some people are intrgued by the idea whilst others
are hostile perhaps we could organise a talk at Matilda on the subject with a
panel debate or something? Anyway, just thought it would be worthwhile to sound
people out about it. Let us know what people think.

Cheers,

Matthew Doyle
