Hi Dan,

I think your letter is excellent. It brought a lump to my throat! It is a 
great vision, it is asking all the right questions - why do they want to 
shut down this creativity, basically?

When I walked round Matilda yesterday morning looking at the man in red vans 
changing the locks, I realised how important the whole damn thing is.

Are we brave enough for this? I will admit the madness of the project scares 
me - the idea that people could die in a fire or get asbestosis. But what 
has been done by people following their passion and getting on with it is a 
continual source of awe and wonder to me.

How come developing our city means a wider M1, a massive casino, clubs, 
shops and flats people can't afford? When what we want is the magic of 
Matilda...
