*GRANTS FOR THE ARTS ADVICE SEMINAR *

*Persistence Works Education Room
Monday 15 May 10.30am – 12.30pm

*** Last few places available ****

The Visual Arts Unit at Arts Council England (Yorkshire) runs regular
seminars for potential applicants to Grants for the Arts. They will be
paying Sheffield a special visit in May to talk to artists based in the
city.

The purpose of the seminar is to explain the Grants for the Arts
programme and to provide support to individuals and organisations who
are thinking of making an application in the near future. The event is
open to all, and is supported by Bloc, Sheffield Contemporary Art Forum
and Yorkshire ArtSpace.

Attendance at the seminar is free, but places must be pre-booked by
contacting Jo Hodgson on jo at artsheffield.org or 0114 2812013.

FURTHER DETAILS

The seminar lasts for two hours and is designed to give applicants a
thorough understanding of the application and assessment process,
address common queries and issues, and provide opportunities for
applicants to ask specific questions about their proposed activities.

The seminar involves:
- A presentation outlining the key features of the Grants for the Arts
programme, including: completing the application form and budget,
writing your proposal, enclosing further information, and how we make
decisions about applications.
- A question and answer session to allow you to ask Arts Council staff
specific questions about your application
- A workshop which takes you through the way that we assess Grants for
the arts applications

ACE also provides a range of Information Sheets and resources at the
seminar, many of which relate to the specialist artform areas included
within Visual Arts and Literature. These include information sheets on
topic such as Getting Published, Approaching Galleries, and Grants for
the Arts for Artists Work in the Moving Image.
