I have updated the working bee plans.
MPG Nov 16 Working Bee
· On the day 50 people will help to rebuild the MPG garden beds.
· A marquis will be set up to prepare the food and be a reference
centre.
· The garden beds will have sleepers placed around the edges to
raise them and make the paths clear.
· One of the garden bed has been assembled as a demonstration.
Before
· Map out garden beds and clarify garden bed dimensions with stake
and string
· Order the required sleepers
· Order pea straw and lucerne hay, 18 bales in total.
· Sleepers delivered and collect pea straw and lucerne
· Organise second hand bath tub
· Work out who is available to help out before and during the
working bee.
· Work out how many people can supply seedlings for the garden.
Weekend before
· Have Marquis ready
· Have food ready
· Sleepers need to be placed near at the right garden beds.
· Compost, top soil and chip bark ready
· Brief garden bed teams on what they need to do.
· Practice assembling a garden bed, C2
· Transplant different plants and vegetables.
Day organization
· People to cook food for participants.
Garden beds
· Explain the organization of the working bee.
· Prepare list of different tasks need to be completed
· Have garden map and specific bed maps for each team leader.
· Assign people for each garden bed team.
Other tasks
· Assign other task to people to do.

Sleeper assembly
· All the beds will have stakes and strings to show where the
sleepers need to be placed.
· Each garden bed team will have their own map and overall garden
map. This will show the dimensions of the beds.
· Each team must lay out their sleepers, move any plants.
· Compost and top soil be added to top up the beds to the sleeper
height.
· Pea straw and lucerne hay are placed on top.
· Plants are replanted.
· Irrigation hose system be placed on beds.
· New garden beds will need to have cardboard and newspaper placed
on the bottom, pea straw, compost and new soil.
Other tasks
· Weed grass from the edge of the paths
· Path mulched after the sleepers have been laid down.
· Dig hole for the bath tub, place bath tub, fill with water.
· Assemble and prepare the compost piles, the metal fencing will
need to have star posts, and be one metre wide. If possible space for three
compost piles.
· Construct small herb spiral. The bricks will be assembled in
spiral, building upwards. Soil will be placed between the bricks and herbs
will be planted there.
· Construct arbor over bed B2 and C2. Bamboo will be laid on the
garden and the top frame assembled. The Y frame will be assembled and tied,
the top frame is placed on the top.

· Can you all please bring our own water bottle, sunscreen, hat and
garden gloves. You will be handling wood so there may be splinters.

Planting guide for working bee
· Beds A1 and A2, C1, C3, D1, D2, B1 will be left as they are.
· Beds B2 will have half the tomatoes transplanted and bed with them
left as it is. Tomatoes will be replanted to rest of bed. The north side
near the arbor will have climbing beans, cucumbers, gourd and luffa. South
sides will have carrots. North side of C2 will have similar plantings
against the arbor.
· Beds E1 and E2 will be planted out. E1 will have corn, climbing
beans and pumpkins. E2 will have sweet potato runners and Zucchinis.
Calendula flowers, coriander and other herbs will be planted on edges of
garden beds.
