Hi Tim,
I was actually wondering how any student would be able to commit to a two
course during semester ! So is November the target now ?

Re: Permaculture course
Terry,
FYI re. below email.
There's a '4 for the price of 3' discount.
Also, some students are keen but unable to do the course this time round
(would love to do it in November).
We realise this is very late scramble for cash. Looking into ways we can
fund too.
Regards,
Tim

Hi Terry,
We'd love some help trying to get up to 3 students to an upcoming 2-week
permaculture course. The cost is ~$1000 each. We think it would be of
great benefit to the Monash Permaculture Garden community's skillset, the
culture and student experience of integrated learning on campus, and the
quality of the garden on campus (food production yield, biodiversity,
aesthetics, ...)
Some more information...
Southern Cross Permaculture Institute (SCPI) in South Gippsland is running
a Permaculture Design Certificate course very soon, from March 26th-April
10th. It is an intensive 2 week residential course held near Leongatha,
which expands from theoretical principles to lots of hands-on experience
and includes a couple of trips to other local demonstration properties.
We have previously had external permaculture designers consult with us on
the Monash Permaculture Garden (MPG), and we feel that it is now time to
more rapidly gain skills within the community of [largely student]
gardeners on campus. With this in mind, we would like to send up to 3
people on the upcoming course, with an expectation that they will share
their skills with other MPG members through working bees and workshops.
Rick Coleman from SCPI in fact assisted the Monash Permaculture Garden in
its formative stages, and recently gave some sage advice about effective
community engagement & volunteer management. Kat Lavers, who has taught
an MSA short courses class in our garden, will be teaching a section of
this course, and has also been assisting us with the garden recently.
It would be wonderful if we could arrange some kind of Uni-funded subsidy
for the course.
Any ideas, questions, and support would be fantastic.
Regards,
Tim (for the Monash Permaculture Garden)
