*** New community garden (BP; Blackburn Plot) Launch ***

*Friday 19th Of November, 2pm to around 8pm*

New Bigger and Better community garden, off Martins St (which is off
Blackburn Rd, opposite Monash Uni Clayton) is having a get together of all
interested people, to have a site reconnaissance, eat food, meet people and
have a fun time.
**Why?*
*Because it’s going to be awesome! (see this picture of awesomeness
potential: [http://flic.kr/p/8T161o]) and you’ll probably make some friends
and learn some awesome skills, and it’s a chance to cat...ch up with people
after end of exams too! AND we get to kick start the 'Blackburn Plot'.
**What?*
*Eating food, Mapping the site, coming up with ideas, basic soil analysis,
eating food and possibly some games.
**Who?* *
Everyone who is interested in whatever way. (including the Notting Hill
Community Association people)
**Where?**
Martins St site.... Behind 700 Blackburn Road:

**When?*
*Friday 19th of November, 2pm start to be "kicked out" around 8pm all up.
2pm eating get to know you games
then, split into small groups of 3-4people to go forth and do specific
useful stuff.
(return for afternoon tea)
5-6 (quick)get to re-know you games and consolidation of findings. 5-8
Notting Hill Community Association people will be there.
6-8 mingle and think and plan.
**What should I bring?*
*Food and water (lunch, afternoon tea and dinner picnics!).
**What else can I bring to make life easier?*
*• A keen eye and a joyful heart.
• Measuring tapes! Or string Lots and lots.
• First Aid Kit.
• String and stakes/poles and a mallet.
• Pen, pencil and paper and something to lean on, rulers and the such like.
• Something colourful to make it festive!
• Extra water, Extra food, A thermos of tea and some mugs.
• Compass
• Protractor and a tube to look through, and some string to make an
angle/height measurer.
• A scientific Calculator that can do cos, sine, tan (and the knowledge in
how to do it)
• A spade/ trowel (and a jar for soil testing).
• String
• Large pieces of paper to draw maps on, or even a print out of google maps
of the site.
• A camera
• Books on identifying common plants and weeds or soil types or birds or
aquatic insects or whatever.
• A keen eye and a joyful heart.
