Hi all

I helped to develop the Monash Permaculture Group management plan for the
garden. I have included the final draft as a copy, I will liase with MPG
complete the final version.

I think the friday meeting on nov 19th is a great initiatve to start the
planning, to document the plans and process and the Uni requires this
document.

I will be there after 4pm.

It is great to Nottinghill community group there and all interested
stakeholders to develop the site together.

The blackburn plot will be more technical compared to the garden as there
will need to be a commercial component to have continous vegetable
production all year round. The hothouse and shade house will the the heart
of the enterprise to produce enough seedlings all year round.

This is also an opportunity to apply to the sustainable communities grant of
$50 000 to get seed funding for the key infrasctrture. This will include the
irrigation system, hothouse and shade house, perhaps some igloo plastic
hothouse for winter production. Can I suggest also funds for a paid garden
coodinator to implement the project and liaise with all stakeholders?

There are also several grants available next year as well, most are up to
$5000. The Victorian Multicultural Commission grant, Strenthening
communities is up to $20 000 and closes early december. This is over $75 000
in potential funding.

Either way it is essential for the planning document to be prepared as soon
as possible for numerous reasons. To satisify the need from the university
to see the planning document, to ensure there is a management plan to guide
the project, to bring all stakeholders together, to forsee the budgetary
requirements and timeline, and finally to assist with funding grant for
infrasctucture of personnel and physical infrasctructure.

It is essential to have the costings for the project as this helps with
funding goals and target.
