<br>To fix that, someone who is an admin needs to log into the <a href="https://lists.aktivix.org/mailman/admin/monashcommunitygarden" target="_blank">admin interface</a> and change some settings:<br>
<br>In <span style="font-family:courier new,monospace">[ Privacy Options > Sender Filters ]</span> find<span style="font-family:courier new,monospace"> [ generic_nonmember_action ] </span>and
 set it to something other than "accept". I think "hold" is best, 
because it lets the moderator approve the odd message from someone nice 
who isn't on the list or is posting from the wrong address, but if 
there's way too much spam for the moderators to handle then the next 
best is "reject" because then nice people know their message didn't get 
through.<br>
<br>It's also worth checking that in <span style="font-family:courier new,monospace">[ Privacy Options > Subscription Rules ]</span> that <span style="font-family:courier new,monospace">[ subscribe_policy ]</span> is set to "require approval", to help prevent spambots subscribing themselves.<br>
