Hi,

  I've written enough to make half of a factsheet or zine, I want to get
it ready by the 7th of October. Drafts available on request.

  What is needed is somebody else to write, especially about migrant
workers, the tube cleaners struggle, sex workers and so. I specialise in
writing about detention and deportations. I have a long quote from
Salima and want to publish extracts of the letter George sent to lord
Avebury during the Colnbrook hunger strike. More contributions from
migrants and asylum seekers very welcome.

  Also very much appreciated: analysis of the migration phenomenon and the
function of border controls from a noborders and anti-capitalist
perspective; something about the exteranlistion of borders;
international struggles; major incidents eg. the migrants shot dead at
the Spanish border; anything else you think relevant.

  I also wonder if the NoBorders London group would like to produce the
factsheet or zine. I'd like to head it ' NOBORDERS' and I wonder if
other noborders grups would like to make contributions.

  Due to time limits all contributions should ideally arrive inside the
next 2 weeks. Later contributions can still be considered, also for
further publications, or put on websites.

  If anyone would like to take part in editing, graphics etc please let me
know. All by email as far as I'm concerned as I'm in Italy at the
moment.
  I'll be back well before October the 7th

ok, the no borders london group have agreed to publish this bulletin & we'll
put a round up and contact details for all no borders groups or groups with
a no borders position.

so would all these groups like to send us 200-250 words about what they've
been doing, contact details, details of meetings, and we'll include them in
the news letter.

Birmingham NoBorders - noborders-brum-contact at aktivix.org

The Birmingham No Borders group meets every other Thursday, at the Cottage
Social Centre, 147 Kyrwicks Lane, Highgate from 7.30 p.m. The Centre is a
squatted Council building under threat of eviction so the venue may change
in the near future.

The group has been holding a demonstration, on the last Friday of every
month, with the Birmingham Anti Racist Campaign at the Home Office
Reporting Centre in Solihull. A banner is erected to obscure the official
sign of the building, asylum seekers' stories and the true facts about
asylum are told with placards, leaflets and megaphone and food is often
served.

The group has facilitated weekly voucher swops with asylum seekers, at the
moment at least ?210 is swapped every two weeks and the network of people
involved is slowly becoming wider.

Members of NoBorders are involved in supporting asylum seekers in setting
up anti-deportation campaigns.

Birmingham NoBorders is a network of grassroots activists who work on
immigration- and asylum-related issues and struggle for the freedom of
movement for all people, for the right of all to stay in the places they
choose, against repression and the many controls that multiply the borders
everywhere in all countries.

Birmingham NoBorders, along with the Birmingham Anti Racist Campaign, have
been holding a monthly picket at the immigration reporting centre in

I am writing to advise that due limited resources
the service will now only be able to provide the
following email digests:

        1) All UK, Europe and World news
           1 to 4 short digests per week
           and
        2) All UK, Europe and World news
           1 full digest per week

:: Subscriber interests

If you have recently completed our online form
saying which topics you wanted newsletters on,
these options are now suspended indefinitely. 
However, details of the topics you have expressed
an interest in will be kept to help inform the
development of the service. The top 5 areas
subscribers have indicated a specific interest in 
are:

         
         Deportation, return, removal 
         Human rights
         Legal (law, regulations, policy) 
         Parliament (Asylum and Immigration 
         reserved to Westminster) 
         Courses and studies 

:: Evaluation
          
The evaluation report should be available to all
subscribers by the end of October, current
analysis indicates that the service is used by
subscribers to help with:

         research
         campaigns
         policy development 
         training

The Anti-Racist Campaign is planning action on 7 October in city centre,
where we will hold a ceremony, with tombstones and even a coffin, to
acknowledge the destitution, detention and death of asylum seekers in this
country and through this country's increasing deportation to other countries
where death/imprisonment is imminent.  We will meet near Waterstones at 1:30
on 7 October. We will be making placards/preparing cards to be read out at a
ceremony next Tuesday night, 7pm sharp, at UCE, in Dawson Building room
D225. Please come, bring placards, cardboard, staple guns and stories of
people you know or have heard of, which can be read aloud at this ceremony.
