Reid is worst waffler, study finds
John Reid is the worst waffler in British politics, according to new
research.
The home secretary - who presents himself as a gruff, no-nonsense plain
speaker - gives a direct answer to TV interviewers only 36% of the time,
and refuses to answer 44% of questions he is asked, a lecturer at the
University of Manchester has found.

Breaking trust with the public
So-called voice-stress analysis is more likely to create confusion than
to catch cheats. It is a step away from a society that respects
individual rights and mutual trust.

and Kashmiri
Success in the case of Huang and Kashmiri
On Wednesday 21 March 2007, the House of Lords handed down its joint
opinion in the cases of Huang -v- Secretary of State for the Home
Department; Kashmiri -v- Secretary of State for the Home Department
[2007] UKHL 11.
This is a landmark decision concerning the intensity of review with
which the statutory immigration appellate authority (now the unified
'Asylum and Immigration Tribunal') must approach immigration decisions
of the Secretary of State which are alleged to constitue a
disproportionate interference with the right to respect for private and
family life under Article 8 ECHR.
