Brum NoBorders meeting minutes – 19.7.2007

1. The Gatwick No Borders Camp

It was agreed to hold a public meeting on 2nd August and invite 'key
people' from various migrant and refugee communities and groups in
Birmingham. To do an invitation letter/email soon. The place is yet to be
decided (Friends of the Earth?).

It was also agreed to organise a public event to mobilise for the Camp in
late August/early September at the Custard Factory, which will include
screenings, talks and possibly music.

We will organise either a big coach or one or more minibuses from
Birmingham to the camp depending on the outcome of the public meeting
(when and how many people want to go etc.).

2. Outreach
--------------

We got quite a few Camp-related posters, laflets and stickers to be
distributed at the above-mentioned events but also give some to relevant
groups/places. We could also photocopy more of the A4 invitation leaflet.

Is there a possibility to do a new good leaflet/sticker about Birmingham
NoBorders?

3. New list
---------------

It was agreed to set up a new closed list for internal, confidential
stuff, as this list is openly archived and we often find it impossible to
talk about sensitive stuff here. If anyone wants to be on this new list,
provided that they attend meetings and positively contribute in one way or
another, email me off list and i'll add you.

4. Actions
--------------

Picket at Liam Byrne's surgery soon.
A big demo at the immigration reporting centre in Solihull in September.
A week or so of leafleting at the immigration reporting centre in Solihull
(we could probably combine the above two?)
