<P class=RTE>Hope you're well. Didn't get to read that last e-mail till well after the meeting- so couldn't even attempt to make it- sorry. But would like to know what has been decided. You also ought to let Jenny Gerrans know as soon as poss too if you haven't already as she is doing the programming for the fest right now.</P>
<P class=RTE>As for ideas. Well. Something that came out of the decor-meeting evolved inside my head as something that could emerge if someone was willing to put the time and effort into it. But I doubt it will happen. But in the spirit of keeping optimism of the will- I will tell you something of it.</P>
<P class=RTE>The idea was for a large board game that would be laid out so people could walk around it. Snakes and Ladders was suggested. This is fine and fun as it is I guess- but I thought that it would be cool to put something of the meaning and spirit of the festival into such an idea. I thought maybe a snakes and ladders board that has a final square representing Peace, with an initial starting point of war, disorder, injustice. The snakes and the ladders represent the tricky and uneven steps, the building and breaking of negotiations, the things that stand in our way to achieving Peace. What would be needed is, of course, a hell of a lot of material and a hell of a lot of paint. So; there is probably other ways in which we could create such a game but without the need for so much resources. Something that both adults and children can play. The Trapeeze workshops held recently were quite inspiring for this kind of interactive-learning style workshop.</P>
<P class=RTE>How are your ideas for the Indymedia workshops going ? I am going to put a lot of energy into just working exactly what I want to acheive here in Sheffield. I am hoping to go on a really long walk this September (on the St James pilgrimage route across Northern Spain to be precise) and will take this time to really think about what it is that I want to create. I am very inspired by what the Institute for Autonomy social centre in London are doing with their summer workshop series, and I think It's something in that direction that I would like to see appear up here. With my philosophy based upon complexity science kind of leading the way... Perhaps these Indymedia workshops could be a nucleus of this project. We must think of ways to publizise them. We should direct energies first to people whom already take an interest in their local affairs- members of community forums, action groups, woman's groups- then move on from there.</P>
<P class=RTE>Anyhow, I ramble. Let's hope that the sun is shining on us all again in two weeks time for June 11th as it did today.</P>
