hi that sounds great.
i really liked una's point at last meeting that we should encourage/invite
people affected by certain topics to lead/participate in activities: eg. a
child who has been in detention talking about what it was like.
kids are always more willing to listen to other kids rather than adults
too and it resonates with them more strongly (although not to be
exploitative to the child in quesiton as it couldve been quite horrific
experience)
This could also include/instead of, learning about the cultures of some
asylum seekers: food, language ('hello, would you like to play with me?'
in urdu/arabic for example) etcetc. this would be best done with someone
from that culture, but failing that, would be quite easy to do by us (ive
done simialr small games to teach spanish: eg. language bingo).
i'll have a think of other related activities. not sure if i will be able
to help as i may be away camping to celebrate summer solstice, but will
let you know and will def try. is also likely that i wont be able to make
next meeting too, but will rsvp!
also was i meant to follow up on something from last meeting?! who has
minutes? i can type up if want.
nice one, Gem x
