No Evictions
No to Racism

More than 100 families living in chalets, mobile-homes and caravans in the largest Romani Gypsy and Irish Traveller community in Britain, at Dale Farm are facing imminent forced eviction. Approximately 1,000 people have been residing on the estate for more than seven years. On 10th December 2009 Tony Ball, 's Tory chief will formally lead his cabinet in voting to give a two million pound contract for the eviction of Dale Farm homes.

10th December is Human Rights Day. Dale Farm residents have called for a rally of residents and supporters to demonstrate in Basildon against the racist policies of the council.

The community has been opposing forced eviction attempts by Basildon District Council since May 2005 when it voted to clear a large part of the settlement. Several roles are available for people who want to support resistance to any eviction attempt, including human rights monitors. Similar eviction attempts at other sites have been successfully resisted before. Residents will receive 28 days notice before the bailiff operation, and have asked supporters to organise now.
