Hi everyone,

As promised I've done a bit of research on the legal side of providing childcare and it looks quite promising. That is to say there are various ways round being registered with Ofsted which would give us lots of freedom in the type of childcare we provide. See attached document that I've put together for more info.

Roughly it says we can provide childcare for up to 4 hours with parents nearby or up to 2 hours with parents not around and not have to be registered with Ofsted and not have to meet all the legal criteria. In fact (rather worryingly) we don't have to meet any of the childcare guidelines if we're not registered with Ofsted - it's just all seen as good practice.

See you on Monday

hey guys,

I wont be able to make it on Monday, but I thought that one or two of you might be interested in something I found out last weekend at the Climate Camp national gathering - which is that there currently isn't anyone who's stepped forward to do the kids space.

Anyone interested in getting involved in Climate Camp? I can't imagine a better opportunity to hone your radical childcare skills! I can make some introductions if you want.

Emily

Meeting in the playground by the
Pub in the Park, London Fields 11.30 – 13.00, or LARC, 62 Fieldgate
Street, E1 1ES if it’s raining. We are interested in not only providing
child care for meetings and events but in the process actively
including
children in our social movements.

This is an initial meeting to talk about ideas and to begin to formulate
our vision.
