Hello people,
We hope your resolutions are well kept and one of them is to visit/put
on an event/donate to The Space Project.....
Here's a quick flick through of things coming up. There's plenty of
room for organising your radical education events and these can take
many forms. If you want help or advice just get in touch at
wearethespaceproject at gmail.com and we'll be happy to help you.
If you ARE pondering putting on an event you need to have it confirmed
by Friday 20th January in order to go in our next round of publicity.
If you just want to help out on one, or just come down and check us
out, drop us an email.
First up in January is the much awaited is the Crisis Discussion
Series beginning on Thursday 19th Jan at 19.30. This is the brainchild
of the New Weapons Reading Group hosted by Leeds Radical Library. This
aims to provide a lively forum for debate on some of the key issues of
our time around the topics of capitalism and crisis. You are STRONGLY
encouraged to read up on the subject first so go to the library
section of our website www.spaceproject.org.uk/library for a reading
list.
If you're wanting to read more, or a nosy at the library we now have
library opening hours. Every Thursday from 4 - 7 someone will be at
The Space so you can go check out books or have a quick chat with the
librarian in residence.
Crossing over with the Crisis Discussion Series is our Economics
Series, which will be an 8 week course starting in February. We will
be analysing economics, getting the lowdown on what things mean and
why they matter, discussing our resistance to it and looking specifics
like debt, the Greek uprisings, the Eurozone crisis etc. We'll be
publicising dates and details nearer the time so keep a look out. If
you have any suggestions/thoughts/comments/guidance do get in touch.
Seeing as we're spying ahead to February, a heads up about the Leeds
Antifascist Film Festival on the 4th/5th. A whole weekend of films and
talks with refreshments and the Leeds ABC Bookstall to keep all
appetites whetted.
So this week just one date for your diary.....
Thurs 19th 4pm-7pm: library open
Thurs 19th 19.30pm: The 1st of the Really Open Course on Crisis.
