Dear friends,

So the Really Open University have had a fairly busy month this May.
Of particular note, was our journal launch which was made possible thanks to our friends Art in Unusual Spaces. We had it in an unused shop in Leeds Shopping Centre with fine wines and even finer literature to purchase. We reckon about 50 people came, which was a great turnout. Anyway, the free crisps all went but we still have journals left. You can get these for £4 from us, or download for free from www.reimaginetheuniversity.org.uk

We also hosted the book launch of our friends at The Free Association, with a talk from John Holloway, who have their book "Moments of Excess: Movements, Protest and Everyday Life", who we You can get the book for a fiver from any stall we do at our events, or from PM Press, Check out the writings and rantings of the Free Association on www.freelyassociating.org.

In case you missed John Holloaway at the book launch or at his lecture on Crack Capitalism at Leeds University, you can read a report on this or the book launch, on our website.

www.reallyopenuniversity.org

As usual, we've been very interested in events abroad, particularly in Spain. If you've somehow missed the Spanish Revolution unfurling, check out not one, not two, but three articles up on our website. The" Communique from Universidad Nomada: It's Not Just Indignation: Inventing New ways of Doing Politics", the CNT's statement "It's our Moment: May and the Occupations and Disobedience Continue" and "It's the Real Democracy, Stupid".

Not that abroad is the only place where they have fire in their bellies. There's been more occupations, such as the one by London Met after 70% of courses were chopped. See www.wearelondonmet.wordpress.com for more on that.

And elsewhere on the website we got excited about the upcoming NUT strike and wrote an article "This is what a school strike could look like". Which brings us neatly to dates for your diary -

If there's one day you don't want to be at work/school it's June 30th. Everyone On the Streets! There's a big call to generalise the strike for June 30th, and in Leeds there's a meeting on Monday June 6th to discuss what forms of action this day can take. It's taking place at 6pm, Room 263, The Rosebowl at Leeds Met.
