Lucky people - another email (sigh)
I've added groups that are supporting the event to the failbook event page - these can be copied across to the website if needed / wanted.
protag and I also threw some ideas around for a bit of blurb to go onto the website / promo material. What are peoples' thoughts?
Initially formed to discuss interest in putting on a May Day event in
Bradford City Centre, the (Bradford May Day 2012 Collective) soon realised
that this was an opportunity to create an event that was inclusive to all
Bradford residents. With support from a myriad of local people involved
with numerous local groups, concerns such as inclusiveness and unity rubbed
up alongside fair trade, ethics and sustainability issues, and whilst
keeping the focus firmly on ensuring workers heritage representation, it
soon became clear that this event could become more than just an
international workers day celebration.
****wishy-washy version might include/resemble/cut'n'paste-from:
"Following on from the very successful Mayday 2011 event, Bradford Mayday
2012 Organising Committee is a self-organised open-access community-based
group committed to building upon last year's event to deliver a festival
that represents the best of Bradford without breaking the bank. Engaging
with resources from volunteer individuals, groups and local businesses the
festival will provide exposure for local artists, traders, performers and
contemporary campaigners without overlooking the struggle for the 8-hour
day which lies behind the origin of Mayday as an international worker's
holiday.
