<P class=story>The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has announced a
series of strikes affecting Royal Mail over a two-week period,
beginning at 7pm on Wednesday 25th July, ending at 12 noon at
Wednesday 8th August. </P>
<P class=story>During the first week, the strike will affect all
mail centres on Thursday 26th July and delivery and collection
services will not be available on Saturday 28th July.</P>
<P class=story>Royal Mail says it has well-developed contingency
plans designed to reduce the effect of the strike and keep customer
disruption to a minimum. They are assessing the likely impact on
mail services for the week commencing 30th July and will put the
results on their website, <A

<P class=story>As far as businesses are concerned, Royal Mail has
given the following advice: </P>

<LI class=story>On Thursday 26th July, Royal Mail’s mail centres
will not collect from business customers
<LI class=story>Avoid posting on Thursday 26th July
<LI class=story>There will be no delivery services on Saturday
28th July
<LI class=story>Tell your account manager or customer operations
manager as much as possible about your mailing plans. This will
help Royal Mail to plan their resources </LI></UL><SPAN
