Have you ever wanted to give back to the community you live in, but
weren’t sure how to get involved? Here is a great opportunity to get
involved with the Town of Ithaca by volunteering to serve on a board
or committee. Below are a few of the current opportunities.

The Town of Ithaca currently has a vacancy on the Planning Board and
is recruiting to fill that position. Interested applicants must be a
town resident and have an active interest in participating in the
Town’s planning process. Some knowledge of the application of
municipal law or other rules and regulations is helpful, but not
required for the position. The Planning Board consists of seven
members, which are appointed by the Town Board for a seven (7) year
term. There is also an Alternate Planning Board position that is a
one (1) year term position. The Planning Board is charged with the
responsibility of reviewing land use and development issues, and
approving subdivisions, site plans and special permit requests.
Planning Board meetings are generally held at7 pm on the First and
Third Tuesday of the month.

There are also vacancies on the Conservation Board which is a group of
Town of Ithaca residents who volunteer their time and energy towards
the preservation and protection of the Town's natural and scenic
resources. The Board is composed of a diverse group, including
retired, working, business, and professional people. The Board acts
in an advisory capacity to the other Town Boards on environmental
matters.
The Joint Youth Commission includes representatives from the Town of
Ithaca, Village of Cayuga Heights andVillage of Lansing. The
Commission is currently looking for a Village of Cayuga Heights
representative. The Joint Youth Commission works with the Tompkins
County Youth Services Department in developing programs for youth
