INTRODUCTION TO COMPASSIONATE COMMUNICATION* (+ Spring Class Series
starting end of April/beginning of May) with Becca Harber
*also called Nonviolent Communication or NVC
email address for
 responding: becca1nvc at yahoo.com
 Monday April 18, 7 to
 9pm at the Tompkins County
 Workers' Center115 The Commons,
 Ithaca above Autumn Leaves Bookstore

An
intro to some key ideas and skills of NVC for getting along better with
people of all ages, especially for conflicts, differences of opinion,
prejudices, upsets, emotional healing and/or misunderstandings. NVC
fosters cooperation and understanding between people rather than
distress, distance or hostility, because it's about how to get more of
everybody's needs met more often.

NVC is used in any kind of
relationship: families, friends, co-workers/supervisors, neighbors,
adult/children, "strangers", and in schools, human services, activism,
organizations, government, business, therapy, and anywhere else.

The intention is to offer a taste of the essence and spirit of Compassionate Communication with time to practice.

Becca's been teaching NVC since 2005, mostly in this area. She
offers customized intros and longer trainings for adults and/or kids in centers, schools, groups, etc.
Preregistration is requested while walk-ins are welcome, too: 607-564-7051, 9am-10pm.
Please only use this email address for NVC class purposes. Thanks

SPRING CLASS SERIES is
8 to 10 weeks long, 2 hours/week in Ithaca starting end of April/early May. Classes will cover basic
fundamentals of how to practice Compassionate Communication with others
and oneself. Some examples: How to communicate honestly so that others
are more open to what you want, listening for deeper understanding of
others and self, how to better take care of yourself when your needs
aren't met, and how to better support others when you want to. All
skills are very useful for resolving conflicts,
too. Sliding scale averages $10-20/session with more financial
flexibility possible. A time will be found that works for the most
people interested. 564-7051

NVC Practice Group, 8 weeks, 2
hours/week. Suggested: $80-96. For people who've had a NVC series with someone.
