I guess this isn't a conventional 'share', since Level Green needs the
guest room rent ($410/mo) to support its programs, but - we have a small,
cozy, quiet room available that looks out over the Six Mile Creek nature
preserve. Share Tompkins folks are just the kind of housemates we would
enjoy.
Address: 1519 Slaterville Road (Rt 79 E); coming up from town, it's on
valley side just past the flashing light where Pine Tree enters Rt 79. Old
farm surrounded on three sides by Six Mile Creek - beautiful for walking
once the snow melts....
The house is old (1900) and not at all modern, but it's very friendly. The
household includes three arts - and sustainability-oriented adults and one
part-time delightful, incredibly creative ten year-old (plus cats). We
share 2.5 bathrooms, kitchen, living room, and organic produce garden.
We're just two miles from downtown, and on the bus line.
We're also hand-renovating the 1930s barn so that it can be a welcoming
meeting space for community gatherings - in case anyone needs such a
space. The longer-term goal for the Barn is to create a community arts
center, with a focus on art and nature. The woods would also welcome
families, groups, anyone wanting a large fire for drumming, picnic,
overnight sleeping or whatever. Paths connect with the Six Mile Creek
preserve pathway system - ten minutes to Potter's Falls.
