> Hello Friends,
>
> When was the last time you danced in the street to a steel band? How about the last time you danced in the street, period? Well here’s your chance to let your hair down, don your plaid pants, mini skirts, maxi dresses, butterfly collar, go-go boots, platforms, bell-bottoms, whatever suits you and come party like it’s 1972 at the Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC) festival on Saturday, June 9, 12:00noon to 6pm at 301 W. Court St,, Ithaca.
>
> GIAC is celebrating its 40th birthday and we need you to join the party. The festival will feature music from the award–winning Pantonic Steel Orchestra from Brooklyn, NY; Under Construction band; New Swag; Mbusi, Trece; the Amazing Pete Balloon Artist sponsored by Greenstar Market; Salsa Revolucion of the Oasis Dance Club; the Grady Girls; Herman Louden, Amara Pinnock and more. Throughout the day DJ Ramsey will keep the music flowing. We will also offer commemorative GIAC Festival photo opportunity. Since there is no GIAC party without the electric slide, we invite you to join us at 4pm as we set the record for Ithaca’s largest electric slide. Slide lessons available at 3:45 for those who need a refresher. To close out the day, local teens will put on an amazing talent showcase featuring performances by Jewell Payne, Kid N0va, Jupiter Jones, Unstoppable Phenomenon, Wildfire Gospel band, and the mesmerizing sounds of DJ Elevate.
>
> Local vendors will have a variety of foods, beverages and other merchandise, including the return of the ever-popular GIAC Senior Program cake wheel. There will be lots of games for the family and a 2 on 2 basketball tournament for middle schoolers (small entry fee for the basketball). Community agencies will be present to share about their services. Voter registration will be on-site as well as public safety and emergency services demonstrations by the Ithaca Fire Department, Ithaca Police Department and the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department.
>
> The festival is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Cayuga Medical Center and other kind donors. Any questions, please call 272-3622. See you at the festival!
