Eleventh Annual Ithaca Alternative Gift Fair to be held on December 6th.

 

The 11th Ithaca Alternative Gift Fair will be open on December 6, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the First Baptist and First Presbyterian churches bordering Dewitt Park, near the corner of North Cayuga and Court Streets. This year’s fair hosts 55 local not-for-profit organizations and features 275 gifts of charitable donations.

 

The Ithaca Alternative Gift Fair unites the community around a common goal of a more meaningful, less commercialized holiday. It helps people bypass the annual stress of holiday shopping and accumulation of “stuff” while honoring friends and relatives with donations to causes that fit their values. Gifts start at $5, and each gift comes with a greeting card and an insert about the organization you are supporting.

 

Over $480,000 has been donated through the Ithaca Alternative Gift Fair since 2004. A complete list of participating organizations and a preview of the gifts will soon be available online at: www.ithacaaltgiftfair.org. All of the gifts can be purchased online from December 7 through 31 on the fair’s website.

 

The event is sponsored by the Center for Transformative Action, with generous support from: Acorn Designs, First Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church, Just Be Cause Foundation, Tompkins Community Action, and Tompkins County Public Library.
