> Tompkins County is seeking applicants for several vacancies on the Tompkins County Planning Advisory Board.

> Three of the seats currently open are for individuals with expertise in Historic and Cultural Resources, Housing, and Higher Education.  There is also a vacancy in an At-Large seat.  At-Large seats are intended to be filled by individuals who can offer expertise or diversity not provided by current board members.
>  
> The purpose of the Planning Advisory Board is to provide the Tompkins County Legislature and the
> Commissioner of Planning with advice and counsel on comprehensive land-use planning and matters
> related to regional, County, and municipal planning. Specific powers and duties include:
>  
> Providing advice to the Commissioner in the development and updating of the County Comprehensive Plan and related policies and programs;
> Acting as a resource to the Legislature and the Commissioner of Planning on planning and development matters;
> Facilitating planning activities on a cooperative countywide and regional basis;
> Advising the Legislature and Commissioner of Planning on when and how to assess the potential impacts of major County programs on the County’s infrastructure, financial and human resources, and County Comprehensive Plan;
> Assisting and advising the Commissioner of Planning on the development of the Department’s Work Program; and
> Assisting the County, its Departments, and other agencies with specific planning-related tasks as directed by the Tompkins County Legislature.

> The Planning Advisory Board typically meets eight to ten times per year at 9 a.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
>  
> Individuals interested in applying for a seat on the Planning Advisory Board must fill out an application and submit it to the Clerk of the Tompkins County Legislature.  Applications will be reviewed by the Planning Advisory Board with appointment by the County Legislature. 
>  
> Applications can be found at http://www.tompkinscountyny.gov/legislature/advisory-board and should be submitted by June 19, 2015.
