Saturday June 27, 2015 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM

(Total Cost: $35/person or $50/couple)

We can stay emotionally calm and nonreactive to the behavior and attitude
of anyone, at any time, anywhere, and under any circumstances: a resigned
spouse; a demanding boss; an irate customer; a defiant 4 year old or teen.

Heartfelt and conscious listening will transform any stressful situations. More
importantly, it will transform relationships during the good times of life.
Dozens of times each day we miss and don't 'get' each other when we talk.
Listening turns every seemingly light, casual conversation on the couch, at
the kitchen sink, or on a lunch break at work into a rich opportunity -- to
divest ourselves of our egos and to BE love and respect, as a commitment.

Day One: The Listening Turn In Conversation -- to get to understanding
Done well, listening creates extraordinary relationship results. The problem
is that people rarely listen well. Simply, it is missing in normal conversation.
To understand another we do not ask a good question to get more
information, share a similar story to show interest, reassure to show
compassion, or give helpful advice.
Learn the one option to all of these well-intentioned, non-listening reactions.

Day Two: The Speaking Turn in Conversation -- to get to a result I want
Why do we hesitate or put off asking others to stop a problem behavior?
Mostly, we don't want to deal with the likely negative reaction. We can't stop
that reaction. We can take the juice out of it. Learn how, logically, listening
can calm another's anger, stop tears, defuse sarcasm, eliminate excuses,
avoid blame, redirect a change of subject, and take care of a host of other
defensive reactions to our requests.
