> Celebrating 10 years as the area’s only provider of free, integrated medical services to the uninsured and underinsured, the Ithaca Health Alliance invites community residents to celebrate its flagship program, the Ithaca Free Clinic. Family-oriented festivities are scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, at the Clinic’s offices at 521 West Seneca Street in Ithaca. The celebration will highlight the close relationship between the agency and its more than 120 volunteers, featuring live music, a children’s tent with games and activities, meet-the-provider stations, clinic tours, refreshments, and a special birthday cake.

> Donating their musical talents for the anniversary celebration are Mel & Soland Five2, with sound equipment and engineering provided by Ithaca Underground. The repertoire of Mel & Sol (David Frumkin and Will Fudeman on fiddle, mandolin and guitar) ranges from Yiddish and Balkan dance tunes to Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Lennon/McCartney, and the tango. Five2 is a striking female vocal trio with the lush, three-part harmonies of Uniit Carruyo, Charisse Lucente, and Yvette Lucente. Ithaca Underground is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose goal is to nurture a sustainable, all-ages (especially youth) supportive environment where music and art outside the mainstream is encouraged and able to flourish.
